    Does a 7 ft garage door fit most modern cars?

    A nominal 7 ft width is about 2,134 mm, but the clear opening can be smaller and many current vehicles approach or exceed 2 metres across the mirrors. Measure the actual clear opening at mirror height rather than relying on the nominal door size.

    Why does the site use body width inside the garage but mirror width at the entrance?

    Mirrors are often the widest point during entry. Once parked, the body width is more useful for estimating the static space beside the vehicle, although door opening still needs extra room and varies by vehicle.

    Are the comfort bands a guarantee?

    No. They are conservative planning bands used to distinguish a few millimetres of positive clearance from a more usable margin. Steering angle, approach alignment, door geometry and the real shape of the garage still matter.
