The calculator is designed to separate a simple physical fit from a more practical everyday fit. It uses the measurements you enter and does not attempt to infer dimensions that are missing.
Mirror width and vehicle height are compared with the narrowest clear door opening.
Shelving, pillars and stored items can be subtracted from usable width and depth.
A positive result is a planning estimate, not a promise that parking will be easy or damage-free.
The entrance calculation subtracts the selected vehicle width from the clear garage-door opening. If “fold mirrors” is selected, the folded-mirror width is used. Otherwise, mirror-to-mirror width is required. The calculator deliberately does not substitute body width when mirror width is unknown.
The vehicle height plus any roof-bar, roof-box or other entered addition is subtracted from the lowest usable opening height. Users should include fixed obstructions such as door mechanisms, beams and pipes in the measurement they enter.
Left- and right-side obstructions are removed from the internal garage width. The remaining width is compared with the vehicle body width. The headline side-clearance figure assumes the vehicle is centred; real-world parking may be intentionally offset to create more driver-door room.
Front and rear obstructions are removed from the measured internal depth before vehicle length is subtracted. The remaining figure is total front-plus-rear clearance rather than a guaranteed amount at either end.
The status bands are deliberately conservative planning cues rather than engineering standards. A vehicle is flagged as not physically fitting if any critical dimension exceeds the corresponding available space. Small positive clearances are marked as tight because alignment, irregular walls, door hardware and access requirements can matter more than the raw number.
The database uses manufacturer or official references where practical and independent dimensional references for broader model coverage. Each entry identifies its source. Where a mirror width is not sufficiently supported, the field remains blank and the user must enter an exact value.
