A short hatchback can still be surprisingly wide at the mirrors, while a slightly longer vehicle may pass through the same opening more easily. A garage also has two different width questions: whether the mirrors clear the entrance, and how much body-width space remains once parked.
For older UK garages, measuring the clear opening is especially important. Door frames, tracks, masonry, shelving, boilers and freezers can make the usable dimensions very different from the nominal size quoted for the building.
The database includes manufacturer and independent dimensional references, but model year, trim, wheel choice, roof equipment and mirror design can change the exact dimensions.
